Exciting, Festive Things to Do in the Fall

seniors walking through autumn forest

The air is getting chilly, leaves are changing and there’s a smell of pumpkin and apples in the air. Now that fall is here, it’s time to enjoy festive fall activities! Here is a list of a few of our favorite activities to do during the fall months.

8 Fun Fall Activities for Seniors

  1. Visit a pumpkin patch. Perhaps one of the greatest fall activities to do is to visit the local pumpkin patch! Here, you can pick out your favorite pumpkin to take home, sip on some hot cider and enjoy time with family and friends. Not only does this activity get you into the fall spirit, but it also gives you an opportunity to get outside and enjoy the fresh air.
  2. Make fun fall crafts. Explore your creative side by making festive decorations for your home. One popular fall décor item is a wreath filled with colorful leaves, candy corn and more to hang on your front door. This is also the time to carve or paint those pumpkins you chose at the pumpkin patch.
  3. Schedule a photoshoot. The beautiful colors of fall offer a perfect backdrop for new family pictures. Contact your favorite local photographer and schedule time to take family photos you’ll cherish.
  4. Root for your favorite team. Fall means that it’s time for football! Take a Sunday afternoon to make some gameday snacks like chili and chips with dip and sit down and watch your favorite team play.
  5. Bake fall treats. Cool fall days are the perfect time to whip up treats in your kitchen. Autumn treats include pumpkin bread, caramel apples, pecan pumpkin rolls and more. To get started, check out Delish’s list of 79 desserts to make this season.
  6. Enjoy a movie night. Whether it’s a Disney classic like Hocus Pocus or Halloweentown or the more traditional It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, grab a bowl of popcorn and curl up on the couch to watch a movie. This is the perfect way to enjoy a chilly fall night.
  7. Take a drive. There’s nothing quite like taking a long drive to look at fall foliage. The reds, oranges and yellows of the trees look stunning and put you in a cozy autumn mood.
  8. Prepare for trick-or-treaters. Fall means that Halloween is around the corner, so it’s time to prepare for kids and their parents in costumes to visit your home. Grab some spooky decorations and candy to pass out to prepare for trick-or-treaters.
